EC Program
The Chemical Engineering programme is a two-year master programme and comprises 120 EC.

The study load of modules is expressed in European Credits (EC). This is a result of the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS), which encourages acknowledgement of study results between higher education institutions within the European Union. ECs give an indication of the weight of a certain part of the programme. One EC involves approximately 28 hours of study. It includes all time spent on the course: lectures, self-study, assignments, examinations, etc.
Introduction 1

Program Structure 1
Year 1:

The first year of the Chemical Engineering programme comprises of a mixture of core courses, electives and a design module.
The Core Programme consist of the following modules:
- Obligatory Core Courses (14EC)
- Advanced Chemical Engineering Courses (12EC)
- Chemical Engineering Electives (12EC)
- Design modules (22EC)

Year 2
The Core Programme (60EC) is the Master End Project (MEP) combined with one of the following combinations of Professional and Societal Orientation completes the program:

• Research and development: 18 EC Industrial Internship with:
- 42 EC MEP or
- 30 EC MEP, 12 EC Electives
• Science and Engineering: An external research project (15 or 18 EC) with:
- A 30 EC MEP, 12-15 EC Electives or,
- A 42 EC MEP, 0-3 EC Electives.
• Management of Technology (30EC): follow first or second semester of MOT courses with 30 EC
MEP.
• Education: (Ed1/ Ed2, +30 EC MEP): get a Dutch secondary school qualification.
• Study Abroad (30 EC) + 30EC MEP.

Please be advised that students will not receive a separate title or addendum when finishing a science & engineering orientation. It will not be reflected on the degree.

PROGRAMME ADDITIONS
- Honours track: This is an individual programme of at least 20 EC on top of the full Chemical Engineering programme, which contains specially developed modules for all TU Delft honours track students. The full Chemical Engineering programme including the additional honours track (140 EC in total) should be completed within 2 years.

REGULATIONS
See https://www.tudelft.nl/en/student/faculties/as-student-portal/education/regulations-degree-programmes-as/ (or Brightspace) for the official regulations of the programme (note that the regulations for next academic year may not be available yet).

Fail or Pass Regulation
The student meets the requirements for the degree audit when all the required modules of the programme have been completed with: a PASS (V), an exemption (VR) or a grade of 6 or higher. Exemptions can only be granted by the Board of Examniners (BoardofExaminers-CE-AS@tudelft.nl).

IMPORTANT: Due to restrictions imposed as a result of the corona crisis, the method of assessment may deviate form the one mentioned per course. Students are informed timely about changes.
With Honours Regulation
The designation ‘with distinction’ (cum laude) for the Master’s degree audits can be granted by the Board of Examiners if the student meets the following criteria:

- The weighted average of the results of the courses (excluding the MSc final project) is at least 8.0; passes (V) and exemptions (VR) will not be taken into consideration;
- The number of credits for the courses for which a pass (V) an exemption (VR) has been granted does not exceed 40 credits in total;
- The result for the MSc final project is at least 9.0;
- None of the marks is lower than 7.0;
- The student’s degree programme has not taken longer than two years between the first and last grade earned. Any study delay that falls under the Graduation Support Scheme (RAS) is taken into account.

In special cases the Board of Examiners may decide to grant the designation ‘with distinction’ to a student who does not meet all the requirements if the student in question has shown exceptional skills in the degree programme.
